Little Treat Box

This week has been just that… a week and I’m glad that the weekend is finally here! Every once in a while things just get really busy and stressful and this was one of those weeks. So I’m glad to be back here sharing another project with you.

This project came to be with a little help from a demo from my team, Eileen, who offered samples of the new Little Treat Box dies from the upcoming August-December Mini Catalogue that’s launching next month. Thanks again Eileen!

So a few days ago I got some happy mail with the Little Treat box and all the extras that come with it. Here are all the extras…

Treat Box extras

These little treat boxes will work for just about any occasion, especially when you combine it with the coordinating stamp set; Little Treats. And while I was tempted to create something for Hallowe’en or Christmas I thought that I would stick with something that went a little more with the current season. (I may just have to get these dies for myself so I can have fun with all the little pieces!)

I used some Whisper White cardstock to stamp the flourish image from the Beauty Abounds cling stamp set with Pear Pizzazz ink (the “hello” also came from this stamp set). The purple cardstock is a retired colour, Fresh Fig, and I thought that the green would work really nicely. I also coloured the flourish using the Watercolour Pencils.

This little treat box was super easy to put together and it’s super cute too! The size of the box also works great for different kinds of chocolates and treats. It’s up to you if you want to use some adhesive to put it together. You don’t really need to, but I still did even with using some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon to tie it together at the top.

If you live in Canada and want to get your hands on a copy of the upcoming August-December Mini Catalogue just send me an email with your name and address to inkspirationwithteresa@gmail.com.

Triple Cube Pop Up Card

It’s time for another Fancy Fold Design Team blog hop! This month we chose the Triple Cube Pop Up card. I have to admit that before starting these blog hops I was pretty intimidated by fancy folds. They always looked like they would be so complicated, but as I’ve been creating them it turns out that they’re usually pretty straight forward. Here’s a video showcasing this month’s card and I’ve also created a simple project sheet that you can download, so make sure to keep reading through to the end.

For my card design I used the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper as my jumping off point. From there I pulled Pear Pizzazz and Pretty Peacock from the DSP as my main colours, but also thought I’d throw in a splash of Purple Posy. (you can find 12″ x 12″ Pear Pizzazz in the Subtles 12″ x 12″ Cardstock Pack)

To spruce up the outside of my Triple Cube Pop Up card I used the small butterflies dies from the Butterfly Beauty dies with Pretty Peacock and Purple Posy cardstock. The Fine-Tip Glue Pen made it very easy to attach those tiny butterflies and raise their wings to give a little extra dimension. I also used the Timeless Tulips bundle with Purple PosyPretty Peacock and Pear Pizzazz ink.

For my phrase I used the Butterfly Wishes cling stamp set, this is also where I got the small butterfly images. The phrase was stamped using Pretty Peacock ink and for the butterflies I used the Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker to “colour” my stamps. Then I framed the phrase and butterflies using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.

This card looks so cool and I love how it can easily fold flat to fit into a square envelope, although I can’t guarantee it’s a standard square envelope.

Here’s my finished card…

#simplestamping with So Inviting

This month’s #simplestamping challenge from Stampin’ Up! is to create a thank you card using just stamps, ink and paper. Every month for the last year and a half Stampin’ Up! has been issuing a challenge for demonstrators to create cards using just the basics (stamps, ink and paper). Once in a while they’ll throw in a little something extra like a punch or some Designer Series Paper, but that doesn’t happen too often.

For my card this month I’m using a colour combination I haven’t used before… Coastal CabanaCalypso Coral as well as some Basic Black. I came upon it by accident actually… when I placed my pre-order for next month’s upcoming new August-December Mini catalogue I also ordered some Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana cardstock and when I saw them next to each other the combination really caught my eye.

The “thank you” came from the So Inviting stamp set. Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to make invitations with it yet, but I’ve still managed to use it for some other projects.

I kept my layout for the card pretty simple to keep with the #simplestamping idea, but I still wanted it to have a little something going on so I used some of the images from the Beauty Abounds cling stamp set. This stamp set is totally one of my go tos when I’m making cards. I love the versatility of the images because it then can go with just about any other stamp set, plus I LOVE butterflies. It’s also a handy set when I’m doing Collage stamping.

So here’s my card…

I love how the Black pops against the Coastal Cabana and the Calypso Coral ink adds a nice splash too!

The timing of the #simplestamping challenge also worked out well because I’m making some thank you cards for my customers. For their cards I’m going to step up this design and add some Stampin’ Dimensionals, the Whisper White Faux Linen ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo pack, maybe the Stitched Rectangles dies and of course some bling with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Heartfelt Hello

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for ideas for my cards and other projects. I honestly couldn’t tell you how many pictures I have on my phone right now of cards and other projects I want to try out! And that’s actually where the idea for this card came from.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a Facebook post by another Canadian demonstrator, Tracy Elsom, and just loved the layout and colours she used. On her card she used the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, which is still on my wishlist for now, so I decided to create my own Designer Series Paper.

For my card I used Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride for my colours, I just love how greys and pinks go together. To create my “Designer Series Paper” I decided to use the Heartfelt stamp set and used a combination of Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate ink to stamp the different images.

The phrase comes from the Tasteful Touches cling stamp set which I then framed using the Stitched Rectangles dies and popped up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also used some of the Whisper White faux linen ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo pack.

For the card base I used Smoky Slate cardstock and the layer behind my Heartfelt “DSP” is Blushing Bride cardstock. I also added a few Pearl Basic Jewels in the top right hand corner of the card front.

Heartfelt wm

I kind of like how this turned out and I think if I wanted to give this another go I would use the Stitched Rectangles dies on the Blushing Bride and Whisper White pieces of cardstock too and emboss the Smoky Slate card front with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

To finish off the card I stamped an image in each of  the four corners of the Whisper White cardstock that I added to the inside of the card.

Forever Greenery

For the last couple of months my team has started posting weekly card sketch challenges. At the beginning of the week the sketch is posted in our group and anyone who wants to join can. I love card sketch challenges, especially when I’m not sure what I want to create and this week’s sketch sparked an idea almost immediately so I decided to join in.

I’ve been having a lot of fun crafting with the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper and so when I saw this week’s card sketch that’s what popped into my head and kicked off my design.

From there I went with Basic Black as my card base and Crumb Cake as the card mat. I also added a piece of Whisper White to the inside of the card base and stamped a few leaves from the Free as a Bird cling stamp set using one of the new In Colours, Just Jade, to carry over the leaves from the front of the card.

On top of the Forever Greenery DSP I stamped another set of the leaves onto a small piece of Whisper White, stamping off a couple of times first before I stamped onto the Whisper White. I wanted the leaves to be a kind of background and to make sure that the phrase on top would stand out. The phrase also comes from the Free as a Bird cling stamp set and I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp on top of the leaves.

Then I cut out the phrase with the Stitched Nested Labels dies and popped this up using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also added a few pieces from the In Good Taste Elements behind the phrase. Using the Fine-tip Glue Pen made this really easy!

I debated as I was crafting about adding some Linen Thread instead of the wooden elements, but I really liked how they complimented the leaves from the Forever Greenery DSP. So in the end this is what the finished card looks like…

I really like how this card sketch turned out. We’ll see what my team thinks when I post it later on today.

I’ve also participated in sketch challenges with the Paper Craft Crew. Here are a couple of those cards…

Happy Canada Day!

happy canada day

I know that we don’t get to celebrate like we usually do this year, my family usually enjoys attending or setting off fireworks which is something we’ve done since before I can remember, and so I hope that you’re able to enjoy this holiday in whatever ways you can think of.

For the most part we’re relaxing inside and enjoying the air conditioning. My munchkins also each made a Canada flag.

Happy Canada Day everyone!!
