Fun in the Sun

It’s been a long time since my last all-inclusive vacation. And as much as I love hanging by the pool or relaxing on the beach, it’s not what I’d pick every time. But for our last family vacation we went to Disney, so this was a nice change of pace. Plus with everything since my dad died and things being pretty hectic at work, some fun in the sun is just what I needed!

I’ve been to Mexico once before… sort of. On one of our family vacations when I was younger, we hopped across the border in San Diego and spent a few hours in Tijuana. So I’m not sure if that really counts. This time we went to Cancun. The resort we stayed at was very nice and the food was really good. Even the buffet, which was sometimes nicer than our booked dinner!

My favourite part though had to be the excursion we went on. Just like with any place like this, there’s always lots of options. But I always like to experience some of the culture whenever I go away. So we went to see the ruins at Tulum and got to do some snorkeling in a local Cenote. I was so interesting learning about the history of the Mayan people, how they really valued learning and that they treated men and women as equals. And after spending all that time in the sun it felt so good to go swimming in the cool water of the Cenote.

Now I’m just hoping my tan won’t be completely faded by the time we get to summer here and I can enjoy some more fun in the sun!

Going on a plane for this vacation made it hard to take some crafting supplies with me. I did manage to tuck the Nature’s Paintings kit into my carry on though. So you can check out one of the projects that came from my in-flight colouring here.
