Take Your Pick Tool by Stampin’ Up!

take your pick

I love the Take Your Pick Tool! This multi-purpose tool definitely comes in handy for just about any project you may be working on. Some people are calling it the Swiss Army knife of crafting and considering all that it does without me having to go digging for another tool I think I might have to agree. In total there are 5 different attachments which allow you to do a variety of different things; pick up small accessories, pierce paper, lift/scrape as well as score and add dimension to your projects. Keep reading for a bit more on each of the attachments.

putty

The putty attachment allows you to pick up sequins, jewels, small paper embellishments and other things that are hard to put in place by hand. Simply twist the end of the attachment for more putty and when you run out just reach for the refill that comes included.

spatula

The spatula tool is great for lifting those embellishments with adhesive backs off the paper so you can use your putty attachment to grab them. It also works well for helping lift cardstock and other things that have been put into place and need a little adjustment.

piercing

The paper piercing attachment works great to make your own designs or to use with your different patterned templates.

scoring

Then the stylus attachment has two different sizes; 1mm and 3mm. This attachment is helpful when scoring, folding cardstock or even adding a bit more dimension to your projects.

High Tide

IMG_6132

Starting next week I’m going to be weaving in some holidays cards and other projects, so I thought I would showcase one more of my favourite swaps today. This one is from Frances Stevenson and page 145 of the Annual catalogue. Even though it’s now fall, I absolutely love this card… from the colours to the sequins to the sponging of the sand and sky, it’s a great card. I might have to keep this one out over the winter to remind myself of the beach when we’re surrounded by snow!

The stamp set used is called High Tide and the coordinating framelits (small starfish) are Under the Sea. In terms of colours, this card features Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake for the inks and Whisper White, Sahara Sand and the Brights 6×6 DSP for cardstock/paper. I always like to add a bit of bling to my cards and this card uses the Pearl Basic Jewels, Iridescent Sequin Assortment and the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

First Week of Autumn

Thankful Fall wm

The first week of Autumn is here! I can’t believe how fast the year is going by… before we know it Winter and Christmas will be here.

In honour of the change of the season I created this card using the Sheltering Tree stamp set with Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove and Crumb Cake.

Happy Autumn!

Little Twinkle

IMG_6091

The Little Twinkle Suite is one that I’ve had my eye on for a while (my list of what I want and what I can actually buy never seem to match up, do you ever notice that?!), so thanks to Laurie Alexander for caseing these two great little cards from our Annual catalogue swap!

To recreate these cards you will need the Little Twinkle bundle, the Twinkle Twinkle DSP and cardstock pack (or Grey Granite, Petal Pink and Pool Party cardstock), Silver Baker’s Twine (the Petal Pink and Pool Party) and the Twinkle adhesive-backed sequins.

First Frost

First Frost wm

I’m loving the First Frost stamp set from the new Holiday catalogue and decided to use it for my card for the Holiday catalogue card swap I participated in. I haven’t picked up my card swaps yet so stay tuned for some of my favourites!

In the meantime if you’d like to case this project I used Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake for this card along with some linen thread, Festive Farmhouse DSP, Stitched Shapes framelits and Wink of Stella.

Half Full

While I’m working away on my Holiday catalogue swaps here’s another card from the Annual catalogue swap I participated in. This one was made by Shirley Hannah and used the Half Full stamp set.

I love the embossing on the card as well as the Designer Series Paper (Regal Patterns pack DSP) and Burlap ribbon. I also think it’s very fitting that she used Merry Merlot cardstock!!

Other supplies used were Basic Black cardstock, white craft ink, Versamark, white embossing powder, linen thread, heat tool and Scallop Tag Topper punch. She also used the Stamparatus.

So here’s the first card that I’m sharing from the recent Annual Catalogue case card swap I participated in. This is definately one of my favourites…. I’m still wondering why I haven’t picked up this set and the coordinating framelits!

To case this project you’ll need the Apron of Love stamp set, the Apron Builder framelits and the colours used are (for paper) Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Powder Pink and Soft Seafoam as well as (for inks) Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Crumb Cake

Catalogue Card Swap

Thankful Trees wm

I’ve participated in card swaps before and I love the cards and ideas that I get back when I do them! With this swap we were to choose a creation from the current Annual Catalogue and case it (case = copy and share everything). The card I chose used the Sheltering Tree stamp set, the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions embossing folder and two of the new colours that came from the colour refresh and new In Colours release; Granny Apple Green and Call Me Clover.

Go to my website to get all the supplies you need to case this card for yourself (I’m happy to let you know what other products you’ll need and offer some helpful tips. Plus stay tuned over the next few weeks as I’ll share some of the cards that I received from this swap!

Colour Your Season

Thank You Tropical wm   Congrats Flowers wm

I’ve had so much fun playing with these stamp set and thinlits this past month! They are so versatile and can be used for just about any occasion. I will definitely be sad to see these go, but am glad that the watercolour pencils will pop up in a future catalogue.

There’s a couple more days to get your hands on this awesome bundle (and snag yourself a Bonus Days coupon for next month!) so go to my website by August 31st!

Reconnecting

Reconnect wm

It has definitely been a while since I posted last! A lot has been going on, but most recently I’ve needed to spend some time reconnecting with myself. As part of this I reconnected with my pure enjoyment of stamping and crafting. The fun and relaxation that comes from creating handmade cards  and paper crafts is so important to me and I’m hoping to share this with all of you!

(I used the Crafting Forever stamp set, Stitched Shapes framelits and watercolour pencil crayons for this creation)

Straight from the Heart

I’ve always enjoyed giving my friends and family presents and seeing the look on their faces when they would open them. Then a few years ago I started to make my own cards and it took things to another level. I could tap into my creative side with all the fabulous products from Stampin’ Up! and give not just a present but a thought, a feeling as well.

I have this cute little stamp in the shape of a heart and to create the heart the words “stamp art from the heart” are written. This phrase has always resonated with me and especially with today being Valentine’s Day it popped back in my head again. These days we’re so caught up with technology and our busy lives that we hardly take the time to really reach out to those who are important to us. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it doesn’t need to be perfect… it just needs to come from the heart!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
