Snowman Season

November is here and there are only 49 days until the holidays! That also means that snow and colder weather are just around the corner. Now I can really dive into my holiday crafting. I’ve been doing a lot of crafting lately with some of the newer stamp sets from the August-December Mini catalogue. So I thought it was time to bring out a favourite of mine that was carried over from last year’s Holiday catalogue; Snowman Season.

There are so many things I love about this stamp set! The snowman images are super cute and I really like the fonts and phrases. Plus if you love to colour like I do you can colour the snowmen, but you don’t have to.

The idea for this card came from a recent team sketch challenge. So with the design of the card taken care of I focused on colours and images. In this case what came first was the image to go in the oval in the centre. The larger snowman from the Snowman Season stamp set I thought would be a great focal point.

From there I decided on a colour combination. I wanted to use the Seaside Spray Metallic ribbon on this card so that became one of my colours. To go with Seaside Spray I picked Pretty Peacock. I love using different blues when I’m making holiday cards and I love how these two go together.

Next I wanted to add some texture to the piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock. So I used the Winter Snow Embossing folder, but not before I stamped the raised snowflakes with my Whisper White inkpad. I really like how it helps the embossed snowflakes stand out, but it’s not overpowering.

Then I coloured the snowman with some Stampin’ Blends. I’ll take any chance I can to colour with those! And I cut out the snowman with one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes dies and popped it up using some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I shared this version with my team, but then felt like it still needed something more. When that happens my go to is to add bling! So that’s what I did with this card. I pulled out my Rhinestone Basic Jewels (a favourite go to of mine) and added a few in the center of a few of the snowflakes.

I really like how this card turned out, even the inside…
