Slimline Watercolour

My creative juices were a little slow with helping my figure out what I wanted to create this week. Eventually the idea of using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set to create a slimline watercolour cards of sorts popped into my head. Some of my inkspiration also came from it being Pride month. And I thought a rainbow of butterflies would be fun. It ended up turning into a watercolour background with butterflies I coloured using Stampin Blends.

The card base is Basic Black. Then I used Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia and Pool Party ink and a Water Painter to create a watercolour background. Once it dried, I added some speckles from the same stamp set using the same ink colours to do a sort of tone on tone stamping. I also added a sentiment from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

For the butterflies, I stamped them all with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I coloured them different colours to create a rainbow. I used Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, Pool Party and Highland Heather. Next I die cut them with the coordinating die and popped them up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This card was fun to make and definitely fit my need to do some colouring this week! I hope you like the variation of a slimline watercolour card.

Bloom Impressions

Today’s the last day of Sale-a-bration! I can’t believe we’re already at the end of February. Can you?! One of my favourite things from the Sale-a-bration catalogue turned out to be the Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper. Now I have to admit, I do prefer the designs with one or two colours. But I have used the mutli-coloured designs for a couple of projects.

I love purple! So for my last card design that I’m sharing here, I’m using the Blackberry Bliss/purple design. And I’m pairing it with another of my favourites… butterflies!

My card base is Basic White. Then I layered my piece of patterned paper on top. The next layer is a Blackberry Bliss butterfly tag I made using a special die from the Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder. To make this tag I ran the same piece of cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine twice, making sure to line up the die using the line on the die when I flipped the cardstock around.

Next I added a detailed Basic White butterfly to the outside of the tag using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. And on the inside of the tag I added a Basic White butterfly outline. I did need to trim the antennae and the bottom of the body a bit to fit. Then on top of that I added a Blackberry Bliss sentiment from the More than Autumn stamp set.

I’m a little sad that the Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper is retiring. But I’m glad I still have some left!

Don’t miss out on getting this pretty pack of patterned paper for FREE… or any of the other great free and exclusive Sale-a-bration products! You can find them all here in my online shop.
