Nature’s Paintings Kit

So last week we were away in Cancun, Mexico. A lot of fun, and relaxation, in the sun! But that meant no real time, or supplies, for crafting. And while a bit of a break was nice, I had to at least bring a little something with me. That something was the Nature’s Paintings kit. I’ve always loved colouring and especially over the past few months I’ve wanted to do it more and more. So this kit was perfect to tuck into my carry on bag!

The design I coloured for this card has a bit more to it than some of the others. But when you’re on a plane for a few hours it’s great to pass the time! For colours, I used a pair on each element. I used Granny Apple Green and Garden Green for the stems and leaves. Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana on the bluebells… I think that’s what they are anyway. And Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy on the blueberries. Then I added a very light layer of Granny Apple Green in the background to help soften things. Once everything was coloured I used a Water Painter to blend the colours.

After it dried I stamped a sentiment in the centre from the Hooray for Surprises stamp set using Night of Navy ink. Then I cut it down to card mat size (4″ x 5 1/4″) and put it on a Night of Navy card base. To finish it off I added a couple of the smaller Paper Butterflies and a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Nature's Paintings Kit

Sadly the Nature’s Paintings kit has sold out. But this design can be done using any black and white patterned paper or by stamping any images you want onto a piece of watercolour paper using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. You can also use any brush with some water if you don’t have any Water Painters.

And you can grab watercolour paper and pencils in my online shop.

Beautiful Bokeh

The new catalogues are here! So lots of new, fun things to get crafty with! And the new Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper pack from the Beautiful Butterflies suites is one of my favourites! Lots of great colours in this patterned paper pack. And I love the bokeh design. This is a great patterned paper to use as the focal point of your card design. And that’s what I did with this design.

I’m using the Berry Burst design for this card. So I used Berry Burst ink to stamp my sentiment from the new Hugs for Love stamp set. Around the sentiment I stamped a fun border from the same set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I used the coordinating punch and popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Behind the Designer Series Paper I have a Basic Black card mat. It really helps that Berry Burst Designer Series Paper stand out. And the card base is Basic White.

On top of the Designer Series Paper I didn’t add too much. It doesn’t need much. I popped up a couple of Paper Butterfly Accents by cutting some Mini Stampin Dimensionals in half. Then I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Beautiful Bokeh

I just love the Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper! It’s super easy to make beautiful handmade cards with a pack of patterned paper like this.

Peek-a-Boo Card

Now I’m not sure if this is what you call this card design. But that’s what I’m calling it… a Peek-a-Boo card. I thought it’d be fun to use the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch to make a window of sorts and then have something peeking through.

I’m using Highland Heather for my card base because it goes really nicely with the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper. But before I punched out my window I adhered the piece of DSP to the cardstock. That way the window lines up on both. Don’t worry about adding adhesive to the centre! This way you’ll have two circles that you can use for another project.

Also on the front I added a sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set using Highland Heather ink. Then I die cut it using the Something Fancy dies and popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside (and peeking through the window) I have some of the taller florals from the Flowers of Beauty stamp set. I stamped these with Highland Heather ink too. Then I added a small Paper Butterfly and a few Brushed Brass Butterflies to finish it off.

Peek-a-Boo Card

If you know the name of the style of this card, please let me know. In the meantime I’m sticking with Peek-a-Boo card.
