Slimline Watercolour

My creative juices were a little slow with helping my figure out what I wanted to create this week. Eventually the idea of using the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set to create a slimline watercolour cards of sorts popped into my head. Some of my inkspiration also came from it being Pride month. And I thought a rainbow of butterflies would be fun. It ended up turning into a watercolour background with butterflies I coloured using Stampin Blends.

The card base is Basic Black. Then I used Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia and Pool Party ink and a Water Painter to create a watercolour background. Once it dried, I added some speckles from the same stamp set using the same ink colours to do a sort of tone on tone stamping. I also added a sentiment from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

For the butterflies, I stamped them all with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I coloured them different colours to create a rainbow. I used Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, Pool Party and Highland Heather. Next I die cut them with the coordinating die and popped them up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This card was fun to make and definitely fit my need to do some colouring this week! I hope you like the variation of a slimline watercolour card.

Valentine’s Day Slimline Card

Tomorrow’s February 1st which means that Valentine’s Day is only 2 weeks away! My creative juices have slowly been coming back (see why here). And one bundle that’s definitely sparked some inkspiration is the Adoring Hearts bundle. I love the hybrid embossing folder that comes with the stamp set! So many great possibilities! And one of the the first ideas that popped in my head when I started crafting with these was a Valentine’s day slimline card. I can fit so many more hearts on a slimline card!

The card base is Cherry Cobbler with a Basic Black card mat. This is such a nice deep red for the hearts! I also used Cherry Cobbler for one of my ink colours… Tuxedo Black is the other, of course.

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the Basic White card front using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I stamped some small Cherry Cobbler hearts next to it. Next I added a few embossed Cherry Cobbler hearts and some gold foil ones that I die cut using another die from the bundle. To fill in the gaps I added a few Tuxedo Black hearts. I love the design on this one! It wasn’t able to pop up the more detailed Cherry Cobbler hearts, so I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the larger gold foil hearts.

A #simplestamping Rainbow

It’s been a while since I’ve joined one of Stampin’ Up!s #simplestamping challenges. So when I saw this month’s challenge I decided to get back into it. This month’s challenge is to create a card using only stamps, ink and paper along with a Sale-a-bration item. My card is a #simplestamping rainbow of sorts.

I’ve been enjoying creating with the A Touch of Ink stamp set and when I saw this challenge this idea immediately popped into my head. I love when that happens, don’t you?! This stamp set is my favourite from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. I love all the images and the phrases make this set so versatile. I’m definitely looking forward to crafting more with this one!

The original design was tweaked a little bit. Initially I thought I would do this as a smaller card, but then I changed it to a slimline card to really get the full effect that I wanted. I used Basic Black for the card base and didn’t use a coloured mat to really help my rainbow pop.

A #simplestamping Rainbow

It took a little bit of time to come up with all the colours for this card. I didn’t want to use the same colour and stamp off. So I chose a darker and lighter shade for each of the flowers. The range of colours Stampin’ Up! has made this pretty easy.

To space out the flowers as evenly as possible I stamped the two outer ones first. Then I stamped the two in the centre of the card and filled in the spaces with the last two. Doing it this way also helped give the darker outline images a bit more time to dry before I “filled” them in. The phrase I stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Here’s the full card…

This was such a fun challenge! And I really love how my card turned out. It’s going to be hard to give this one away. I hope that you enjoyed my card making a #simplestamping rainbow too.
