Winterly Tree Tops

I’m slowly working my way towards my Christmas crafting. And the Nest of Winter suite is a great one to ease in with. I can’t resist these cute birds! I especially love the Winterly Tree Tops dies that are part of this suite.

For this card I’m using the largest die in the bunch. So of course one of my colours is green. In this case, I’m using Garden Green. And my other colour is Crumb Cake for my card base. In between these two layers I have a piece of Basic White cardstock. On that piece I stamped some bud branches and some little flowers using Crumb Cake ink. The bud branches come from the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set. And the flowers are from the Layering Leaves stamp set.

On top of all that, I fussy cut a bird from the Nest of Winter Designer Series Paper pack. Then for my sentiment I pulled one from the Layering Leaves stamp set and stamped it in Crumb Cake ink. I die cut that with one ofthe skinnier Something Fancy dies. And both got popped up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish it off I added a few of the smallest Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Winterly Tree Tops

I can’t wait to use all the Winterly Tree Tops dies! Especially since I thing they will die cut some of the images in the Designer Series Paper Pack.

More Watercolouring with Flowers of Beauty

I scratched the itch last week and so I just had to do some more watercolouring with Flowers of Beauty! Stamp sets like this with big and simple images are great for watercolouring. Especially if you’re just starting out! It’s always nice to have room to add a little more water to smooth out any extra bits of colour.

This time I’m using Misty Moonlight as my main colour. There is some Basic Beige in there too. Other than the sentiment from the Layering Leaves stamp set though, it’s kind of hard to see. So I stamped the sentiment and two of the taller foliage images on the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper in Basic Beige. Once the ink was dry I used the same technique as last time… I coloured with the Watercolour Pencils first and then used a little bit of water and a Water Painter to smooth it out. Sadly there isn’t a Misty Moonlight Watercolour Pencil. So I used Balmy Blue and then added a little bit of Night of Navy on top.

On top of that I added a strip of Misty Moonlight cardstock that I embossed with the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder. Then on top of that I added a piece of County Woods Designer Series Paper that I punched with the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch and popped up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. And on top of that I added two Misty Moonlight butterflies using the Sketched Butterflies bundle.

More Watercolouring with Flowers of Beauty

I’m having so much fun with this, I think I’ll have to do even more watercolouring with Flowers of Beauty!

Handmade Thank You Card

The original inkspiration for this handmade thank you card design came from a colouring page image I saw on Pinterest. Go figure! I really like the idea of popping images up on top of different shapes. And I just love butterflies so that’s where I started with my design.

To go with the butterfly theme I debated a couple of patterned paper options; Fresh like a Daisy and Masterfully Made. I really love the colours, smaller sized flowers and other elements in the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper pack, so that was the winner. From there I pulled Fresh Freesia as my card base and ink colour.

Then to contrast the darker and eventually busier patterned paper, I stamped the simple ink splatter image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set. And I stamped off on a scrap piece of paper first to make the Fresh Freesia even lighter. Next I added the hexagon shapes that I cut using one of the Something Fancy dies. Starting with just one and spreading out as I went down the cardstock.

For my butterflies I used two different ones. I started with the smaller Brushed Brass Butterflies and then die cut some larger ones using the Meadow dies. I popped up the cardstock butterflies with some Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. And the “thanks” comes from the Biggest Wish stamp set. I punched that out with the Double Oval Punch and then popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Handmade Thank You Card

This handmade thank you card design is such a nice one! I think I’ll have to try it with some different shapes and/or images next time.
