Double Triangle Fold Card

Fancy Folds Design Team

It’s time for another Fancy Folds Design Team blog hop. And this month we’re making a Double Fold Triangle card. This is such a cute and simple card to make. Dawn, a demonstrator from the US, has a great video to help you be able to make your own.

For my card I knew I wanted to show off the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper. This patterned paper is so pretty! I just love all the colours and flowers and I’ll be sad once it’s gone in a couple of weeks. For the card base I chose one of the colours from the DSP; Pale Papaya. This has become one of my favourite colours recently.

From here I needed to add something to the front of the card. To keep with the spring, floral theme I decided to use the Timeless Tulips stamp set and punch. This is another favourite of mine for crafting this time of year. I kept it simple and just added a tulip to the card front. To stick the tulip together I used the Double Oval Punch. I punched some of another design from the same DSP pack with the scalloped oval. And then some Basic White cardstock with the plain oval.

On the plain oval I stamped a stem and leaf for my tulip. Then stuck it all together and to the card front with some Stampin’ SEAL. On another piece of Basic White cardstock I stamped another leaf and the large tulip. And then punched those out and added them to the card front the same way. I thought about popping it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, but decided not to. To finish it off I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I hope you like it…

Handmade Placecards

I hope everyone enjoyed this past long weekend! And I hope you were able to spend at least some of it with loved ones. For us it was a busy weekend seeing both mine and my husband’s family. And even busier because we hosted dinner one of the nights. Since it’s been over 2 years since the last family dinner I wanted to make it even more special. So I decided to make handmade placecards.

For the design I wanted nice bright colours for Spring. I thought that the soon to be retired Hand Penned Designer Series Paper would be perfect. Lots of colours and flowers! I used Pear Pizzazz cardstock to create an easel style base. A nice green for the DSP to pop off from. And for the names I simply printed them on Basic White cardstock and cut them out using one of the Meadows dies.

Along the bottom of the place card I stamped some leaves and a stem from the Timeless Tulips stamp set (also retiring soon) using Pear Pizzazz ink. Stampin’ Up! makes tone on tone stamping so easy! Then to hold the easel in place so we could see the names I used a tulip bloom. I stamped the smallest tulip image in a few different colours; Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral. Then I fussy cut them and popped them up with a Stampin’ Dimensional. (I also popped up the names using Stampin Dimensionals)

These handmade placecards turned out really nicely!…

Handmade Placecards

I’m really going to miss this stamp set. It’s so versatile and I often used it with the masking technique. I actually shared a project recently here doing just that.

There’s only 2 weeks left til the new Annual Catalogue launches and the retiring products will be gone forever… if they aren’t sold out already. Don’t miss out! Head over to my online shop and grab your favourites before they’re gone.

Spring is less than one week away! Although as I’m typing this it’s snowing outside my window. I’m definitely looking forward to the warmer temperatures and brighter colours. I think that’s where the inkspiration for this card came from. While I love how pretty everything looks covered in snow, it’s time to for a change. And what better way to do that than with the Timeless Tulips stamp set. This is such a great stamp set and such a good one to use with the masking technique.

If you’re not sure what that is, here’s a brief explanation. The masking technique is when you create the illusion of overlapped images without actually stamping on top of the images. And how to do that is by making a mask. This is super easy to do! All you need is a sticky note, or a small piece of printer paper, the image(s) you want, ink and scissors. I don’t recommend using anything thicker than this because it often creates an extra outline around the stamped images that you want to keep as small as possible. Once you’ve stamped and cut out your mask you’re ready to get stamping!

For my card I wanted to use a variety of colours to keep it nice and bright. I also wanted to have a number of tulips on my card so using a mask definitely helped. To start I stamped the medium tulip where I wanted them and then I placed the mask on top when I stamped the large tulips. Then to add some extra layers I punched a few large tulips and popped these up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The phrase comes from the Timeless Tulips stamp set as well. This is one of the reasons why I love this stamp set… the variety of sentiments is great! I punched out the phrase and the border using the Double Oval Punch from the Annual catalogue. In the first card I just used some Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the border, pulling from the ink colour of the stems and leaves. For the second card which I shared last night live on my Facebook page, I used some of the 2021-2023 In Colour Designer Series Paper because I used Soft Succulent as my green for that one.

The masking technique is a great one if you’re just starting out. And I hope you found my simple explanation helpful. Timeless Tulips and True Love

It’s June! And this year that means that’s it’s time to goodbye to some of the products from the January-June Mini catalogue. So over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing projects featuring some of these retiring products. This week I’m showing off the stamp set Timeless Tulips and True Love Designer Series Paper. The True Love DSP is what’s retiring in this case. So is the Blushing Bride Metallic ribbon that I used.

This card design came from my Stamp & Jammies online card class from April using the Timeless Tulips stamp set. I love this stamp set! The phrases make it super versatile and since the stamps are DistINKtive, you get a lot more depth with your stamped images. With the black and white designs of the True Love DSP it didn’t matter what colours I picked. Which is nice and it also really helps the colours I do pick stand out. In this case I went with Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz.

Pear Pizzazz is probably my favourite green for stamping things like stems and leaves. It’s not too bright but not too dark. And the Blushing Bride worked well so that I could use the metallic ribbon to add a bit of bling to an otherwise simple card. For the phrase I decided to just cut the cardstock fairly close to it instead of using one of the Stitched Rectangles dies. I didn’t want to cover up too much of the DSP.

Timeless Tulips and True Love

I really like the pairing of the Timeless Tulips and True Love Designer Series Paper! It turned out nicely.
