Goodbye Polished Pink

For the past few weeks I’ve been featuring the 2021-2023 In Colours to get ready for this. This list of retiring products is now officially out! And that means it’s officially time to say goodbye Polished Pink. I’ll talk more about the list next week, so stay tuned. And over the next couple of weeks I’ll be featuring some of the retiring products in my projects. But if there’s something you really want, don’t wait! Things are selling out already!

For this card my main colour is Polished Pink, of course. And I’m pairing it with one of my favourite colours Blackberry Bliss. This is a bit of an unlikely colour combination but it works. Polished Pink is definitely a colour that’s had me scratching my head at times to figure out what to pair it with. And now that I’m getting the hang of it, it’s retiring. Grr!

The images I’m using for this card are also retiring. I’m really sad that Butterfly Brilliance is retiring (dies too), but I’ll be holding on to this one. I stamped the butterflies in Polished Pink and the sentiment too, which is from Something Fancy. To keep Polished Pink as the focus I used Blackberry Bliss mainly as a background colour. Including the typed text from Quiet Meadow.

To add a little something more to the card I also embossed the piece of cardstock with the stamped text using the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. Then on top of that, and the butterflies, I used one of the Something Fancy dies to frame the sentiment. To finish it off I popped up the sentiment and added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a little bling.

Goodbye Polished Pink

While I’m sad that it’s time to say goodbye Polished Pink… and Butterfly Brilliance, I’m excited for the new catalogue. And I can’t wait for my pre-order to arrive so I can start sharing some new projects with you!

Check out a couple more retiring colours here. I can’t believe that Pear Pizzazz is retiring too! This summer is going to be a busy one with purging and reorganizing my craft stash!

For the latest on what is still in stock from the retiring list, check out my online shop. I’ve never seen things sell out this quickly before so don’t wait!!

#SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis

It’s been a couple weeks now since the new Annual catalogue launched. And I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I’ve been! To keep up with the excitement of the new catalogue I’m doing some #SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis, one of the new In Colours. This is for this month’s #SimpleStamping challenge from Stampin’ Up! And this time it’s just the basics; stamps, ink and paper. No extras this month and we need to use our favourite new In Colour. I love purple so Orchid Oasis was a fairly easy choice for me… although there’s a lot of great colours in the 2022-2024 In Colours.

For my card design I decided I’d take advantage of the opportunity and make some thank you cards. I have a few customers I need to thank for their orders. So I’m using the “thank you” from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set. Then to really show off the Orchid Oasis I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. It’s nice and big and I love butterflies so I love any chance I get to use this set! Plus using the Stamparatus makes it super easy to stamp big images like this one, especially when you need to stamp multiples.

To really make the Orchid Oasis pop I added some Orchid Oasis cardstock behind the butterflies and the phrase. I also popped up the phrase using some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

#SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis

I love how this card turned out! It’s nice and simple and beautiful. This bit of #SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis is also a great example of a monochromatic card.

Check out my card for last month’s #SimpleStamping challenge here. It’s also all about the new In Colours. And if you want to check out all the new In Colours or the Stamparatus, head over to my online shop.

Hand Penned

This month is Stampin’ Up!s Designer Series Paper sale. So I thought I would show off some of my favourite packs. Last week I used the Beauty of the Earth DSP, you can check that out here. For this week’s project I decided to use the Hand Penned DSP. This is definitely one of my favourite packs from the Annual Catalogue! I love the colours and designs. And this is a pack that is great to use to make simple cards. You don’t need to add a lot when you’re using this DSP.

I’m a big purple fan, so for this card I’m using the Highland Heather design. I also decided to keep this a monochromatic card, so Highland Heather is my only colour (other than white of course). For the inside of the card instead of stamping a phrase or image I added a strip of the DSP design. I always like to add a little something to the inside of my cards… and the envelopes.

Hand Penned

On the outside of the card there’s of course another strip of the DSP. Then for my images I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. And I love that the butterflies are super easy to cut out using the coordinating dies, Brilliant Wings! I’ve fussy cut butterflies before and while it’s not as bad as some other images I still prefer to not if I don’t have to.

The phrase comes from the Quiet Meadow stamp set which is another favourite of mine. I stamped it in the bottom right hand corner so I would have lots of room to add some of my butterflies which I popped up using some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then of course I had to add a little bit of bling. So I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels. You could also add some Wink of Stella to the stamped butterflies.

Hand Penned

I love this card using the Hand Penned DSP! If you want to check out this and the other packs of DSP that are on sale til August 2nd head over to my online shop. Next week I’ll be featuring the In Good Taste DSP pack.

#simplestamping with the New In Colours

With Stampin’ Up!s new Annual catalogue launching this month the theme for this month’s #simplestamping challenge is “new”. So it could celebrate a new baby or a new home. I don’t have any of that going on right now or know anyone who does. And so I decided to do some #simplestamping with the new In Colours. The new In Colours that arrived with the new catalogue are Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreeen. If you’re not sure what the deal is with Stampin’ Up!s In Colours then you’ll want to check out my post.

The other piece to this month’s #simplestamping challenge is that we can only use stamps, ink and paper. So no Designer Series Paper for this card! With that in mind it took me a little bit to decide what I wanted to do. In the end I decided to use the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. I thought this would work well because it’s such a large stamp that I’d be able to use all the colours on it. This was a little tricky as it’s all one big stamp, but I didn’t mind a little bit of overlap of the ink colours.

I started with the lightest colours first because I wanted to try and keep as much of the other ink colours off my ink pads as possible. Once I got my ink colours onto the stamp I huffed over the whole stamp to make sure there was still enough moisture. I’m still warming up to Evening Evergreen, but still wanted to make sure all the new In Colours were there. So I added a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock to frame the butterflies in the rest of the In Colours.

#simplestamping with the new In Colours

For this card I decided to not add a phrase. I just couldn’t find something that I liked that worked with this theme. But that would be easy enough to do. I would simply stamp the phrase with some Evening Evergreen on a small piece of Basic White cardstock and add it towards the bottom of the card. Stepping this card up would also be pretty easy. Some Wink of Stella on the butterflies would look nice. Or even making the cardstock with the butterflies smaller to make room for a few jewels in the bottom corner.

I hope you like this piece of #simplestamping with the new In Colours. I’m definitely looking forward to using them over the next two years. To check out all the new In Colour options you’ll definitely want to check out my online shop!
