Monochromatic Card with Patterned Paper

For most of my cards I use 2 colours, sometimes 3 or 4. But I also love a good monochromatic card. And crafting a monochromatic card with patterned paper is a simple way to make it really pretty. I just love the Hello Irresisitible Designer Series Paper! This is such a pretty pack of paper… and great for this kind of card.

To start I picked my DSP design. I chose a simple Pretty Peacock design and so I used that colour for my card base and ink colour too. This is such a pretty colour. I’m really glad Stampin’ Up! brought it back with the recent Colour Refresh they did.

On top of the piece of DSP I added a strip of Pretty Peacock cardstock. But first, to spruce it up a bit I did some tone on tone stamping with the ink splatter image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set. Then on top of that I added the sentiment. This one comes from the In the Moment stamp set. It’s of course stamped with Pretty Peacock ink too.

To finish off this simple card, I popped up the sentiment with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. And then I added a few of the Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls. Don’t you just love the rainbow effect you get when these catch the light?!

Monochromatic Card with Patterned Paper

It’s so easy to craft a beautiful monochromatic card with patterned paper! All you need to do is pick a design. And right now there’s ALOT of options, so that’s probably going to be the hardest part.

#SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis

It’s been a couple weeks now since the new Annual catalogue launched. And I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I’ve been! To keep up with the excitement of the new catalogue I’m doing some #SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis, one of the new In Colours. This is for this month’s #SimpleStamping challenge from Stampin’ Up! And this time it’s just the basics; stamps, ink and paper. No extras this month and we need to use our favourite new In Colour. I love purple so Orchid Oasis was a fairly easy choice for me… although there’s a lot of great colours in the 2022-2024 In Colours.

For my card design I decided I’d take advantage of the opportunity and make some thank you cards. I have a few customers I need to thank for their orders. So I’m using the “thank you” from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set. Then to really show off the Orchid Oasis I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. It’s nice and big and I love butterflies so I love any chance I get to use this set! Plus using the Stamparatus makes it super easy to stamp big images like this one, especially when you need to stamp multiples.

To really make the Orchid Oasis pop I added some Orchid Oasis cardstock behind the butterflies and the phrase. I also popped up the phrase using some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

#SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis

I love how this card turned out! It’s nice and simple and beautiful. This bit of #SimpleStamping with Orchid Oasis is also a great example of a monochromatic card.

Hand Penned

This month is Stampin’ Up!s Designer Series Paper sale. So I thought I would show off some of my favourite packs. Last week I used the Beauty of the Earth DSP, you can check that out here. For this week’s project I decided to use the Hand Penned DSP. This is definitely one of my favourite packs from the Annual Catalogue! I love the colours and designs. And this is a pack that is great to use to make simple cards. You don’t need to add a lot when you’re using this DSP.

I’m a big purple fan, so for this card I’m using the Highland Heather design. I also decided to keep this a monochromatic card, so Highland Heather is my only colour (other than white of course). For the inside of the card instead of stamping a phrase or image I added a strip of the DSP design. I always like to add a little something to the inside of my cards… and the envelopes.

Hand Penned

On the outside of the card there’s of course another strip of the DSP. Then for my images I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set. And I love that the butterflies are super easy to cut out using the coordinating dies, Brilliant Wings! I’ve fussy cut butterflies before and while it’s not as bad as some other images I still prefer to not if I don’t have to.

The phrase comes from the Quiet Meadow stamp set which is another favourite of mine. I stamped it in the bottom right hand corner so I would have lots of room to add some of my butterflies which I popped up using some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then of course I had to add a little bit of bling. So I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels. You could also add some Wink of Stella to the stamped butterflies.

Hand Penned

I love this card using the Hand Penned DSP! If you want to check out this and the other packs of DSP that are on sale til August 2nd head over to my online shop. Next week I’ll be featuring the In Good Taste DSP pack.

Monochromatic Cards

While I usually enjoy using different colour combinations for my designs, I do love making monochromatic cards too. This week I’m showing off the retiring Dandy Garden 6×6 Designer Series Paper and the Ladybug Trinkets. I have to admit that this DSP was not my favourite. Some of the designs were nice, but I did love that I could use the Dragonfly punch to cut out the dragonflies instead of fussy cutting.

For this card I choose the sheet using Blackberry Bliss. Blackberry Bliss is one of my favourite colours. And I was so happy when Stampin’ Up! decided to bring it back. Other than the DSP and Blackberry Bliss, I used Basic White cardstock. It’s always good to keep it simple, and neutral, when you’re making this kind of a card.

I simply stamped the tall flower image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set at different heights for the top of the card. Then the DSP went underneath. To overlap the two pieces I stamped a dragonfly and used one of the Layering Circles dies to cut it out. For the wings I stamped off first so that the colour was a little bit lighter than the wings.

Monochromatic cards

The phrase also came from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set. For this card I just cut the cardstock, but you can also use the Stitched Rectangles dies. I popped up the phrase, and the dragonfly, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then instead of my usual bling, I decided to add a lady bug.

Monochromatic cards

Monochromatic cards can be so nice. Sometimes it’s nice to just keep things simple. This is one that I shared on my YouTube channel, which you can check out here.
