Wedding Cards with Abundant Beauty

This weekend’s going to be a busy one for us! We’ve got two birthdays and a wedding to celebrate. I usually have a decent stash of birthday cards. But when it comes to weddings I try to get some inkspiration from the couple’s invitation. And as soon as I saw this one I’ve had a picture in my head of what I wanted to do! I knew I just had to make wedding cards with Abundant Beauty Decorative masks…. specifically the sunflower masks.

The invitation was full of flowers and deeper colours. So for the card base I’m using Basic Black, which was also one of the colours they used. On top of that I layered some Wild Wheat cardstock and another piece of Basic Black. The next layer is a stamped piece of Very Vanilla. I stamped the large flower from the Quiet Meadow stamp set with Crushed Curry. And a few smaller ones with Cajun Craze.

I also used these colours for my sunflowers. Starting with Crushed Curry and then adding a little Cajun Craze to the centre of my petals. Then I used Wild Wheat and Early Espresso for the centres. For the leaves I used Old Olive ink. I made a whole bunch because my mother-in-law asked if I could also make her a card to give to the couple. Thankfully it wasn’t too time consuming to fussy cut them all out!

I switched it up a little bit for my mother-in-law’s card. The colours are the same, but I embossed a piece of Wild Wheat cardstock with the 3D Painted Texture embossing folder. I also used a sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set which I die cut with one of the coordinating dies. The sunflowers on both cards are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. But the sentiment on my card wasn’t.

I just love how both of these wedding cards with Abundant Beauty turned out! These decorative masks will definitely be staying in my craft stash for a while after they retire.

Check out another card I made using the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks here.

If you want to add these masks to your craft stash, don’t wait too long! These are on the list of retiring products and won’t be available after January 3rd… if they last that long. Find them and the other retiring products in my online shop.

Handmade Halloween Card

Can you believe that tomorrow is the first day of Fall? I definitely can’t! This year seems to just be flying by. Anyway… in our house we love Halloween! The munchkins LOVE to decorate the house and carve pumpkins and sadly my oldest probably won’t trick or treat to many more times. One thing I don’t really do though is make a handmade Halloween card. Usually I make more home decor pieces. But I couldn’t resist making at least one with the Them Bones Designer Series Paper!

This patterned paper pack has some great Fall designs too, but I think my favourites are the Halloween themed designs. They’re just so cute! And they make it SUPER easy to make Halloween cards. Other than the DSP itself I didn’t need to add a whole lot for this design.

The card base is Basic Black… of course! Then I used some of the same design on the inside and outside of the card. On the inside I just put a little strip, but on the outside it’s basically my card front. For the sentiment I simply used another of the Them Bones designs. This design is the perfect sheet for making a whole bunch of Halloween cards! I popped up the sentiment with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. And then to finish it off, instead of bling, I added a few of the Glow in the Dark bats. Can you spot them all?

The Them Bones pack of Designer Series Paper makes it so easy to make a handmade Halloween card right?!

Fall Watercolour

This week’s challenge from the Paper Craft Crew is a theme challenge (PCC 535). And it’s all about Fall. I can’t believe the first day of Fall is this Saturday already! Where has this year gone?! Anyway… the design for my card started with the idea of a Fall watercolour. Here’s the picture that sparked the inkspiration for my design…

Fall Watercolouring

Now some people might go for a pumpkin theme. But I decided to go a different route. I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze to create my watercolour background. Then once that was dry I stamped a couple of leaves from the Season of Chic stamp set in Early Espresso. The sentiment is also from Season of Chic and I framed that with some Early Espresso cardstock and popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

In the bottom right hand corner I added a couple of sunflowers. These sunflowers I created using the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks and my Blending Brushes. I started with Crushed Curry and then added a little Cajun Craze to the petals. Then for the centre, I started with Wild Wheat and added Early Espresso. These were pretty easy to fussy cut and then I popped them up too.

Fall Watercolouring

I quite like my Fall watercolour background. And I just love the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks! It’s so much fun crafting with these.

Handmade Fall Card with Cottage Wreaths

September is here and Fall is just around the corner! So before I start diving into my Christmas crafting I thought I’d share a handmade Fall card with Cottage Wreaths. This is such a fun set of stamps and dies! It’s great for just about any season or occasion. I’m looking forward to some Halloween crafting with it!

In the meantime though I paired it with the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper. I know, the title makes you wonder if you can use it for anything other than Christmas. But I promise you that you can… and not just with this design that I used for this card! For this card I used the dark wood grain design. The card base is Wild Wheat, one of the new In Colours. I also used Wild Wheat as my main ink colour.

To create the wreath I stamped off onto a scrap piece of paper first then I stamped onto some Very Vanilla cardstock. Then to add a bit of those gorgeous Fall colours, I stamped some leaves using Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze. The coordinating dies made is really easy to cut all these out, including the two Wild Wheat acorns.

The acorns framed the sentiment which I cut out using one of the Meadows dies. And then I popped both the wreath and the sentiment up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then to finish it off I added a few of the Wild Wheat In Colour Dots.

Handmade Fall Card with Cottage Wreaths

I think this handmade Fall card with Cottage Wreaths might need to come with me to one of my Thanksgiving dinners!

Explosion Fun Fold Card

Fancy Folds Design Team

I’m kicking off my fall crafting with an Explosion Fun Fold card with the Fancy Folds Design Team! I’ve never made a card like this before so I’m excited to give it a try. And Tami White, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from the US, has a video and cheat sheet that’s super helpful if you want to try and make your own. You can find them both here.

For my design I’m using the Them Bones Designer Series Paper from the upcoming mini catalogue. I got my pre-order earlier this week and couldn’t wait to get crafting with it. Then for my images and sentiments, I’m using the Cottage Wreaths bundle from the Annual Catalogue.

The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock. On the inside I used Very Vanilla cardstock. I like the softer white for my Fall cards! Now before I added my DSP mechanism, I stamped a few leaves on the cardstock using Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze ink. Then I stamped the sentiment with Pumpkin Pie and framed it with a few Cajun Craze acorns and another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to put in the centre of the mechanism.

On the outside I have the same DSP design as the the mechanism. The belly band, to keep the card closed, is Crumb Cake cardstock. And to cover up the overlapping cardstock, I added a Crumb Cake wreath that I cut out with the coordinating die. I stamped “grateful” in Pumpkin Pie ink and punched it out with a circle punch. I used the 2 3/8″ Circle punch and then trimmed a bit off. The 2″ Circle punch should work without having to do any trimming. Once I added this to my Crumb Cake belly band I added a few Brushed Metallic Dots to the wreath. Gotta add a bit of bling!!
