Colouring with Circle Sayings

With all the hustle of working mom life I don’t colour as often as I’d like to. It’s definitely been way too long since I did some colouring for a project. And one of the reasons I love the Circle Sayings bundle is because the images are great for colouring. So this week I decided to finally get around to some colouring with Circle Sayings. And since it’s still July I’m going with a summer themed card.

So that’s where I started with my design. With the seashell image as my jumping off point, I went with Pool Party and Crumb Cake as my colour combination. I just love these colours for a summer/beach themed card. So I have Pool Party for my card base and then I added a strip of Crumb Cake across the centre. But not before I embossed it with the 3D Painted Texture embossing folder.

Behind the strip of embossed Crumb Cake cardstock are a few seashells. These ones are from the Season of Chic stamp set. Then on top of these layers I have my little seashells from Circle Sayings. I stamped it twice with Crumb Cake ink to create a ring. Usually when I’m colouring with my Stampin’ Blends I stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Fortunately it worked out for me. I used mostly the light Crumb Cake blend. But there’s also some light Pool Party, light Petal Pink and a little bit of the dark Crumb Cake.

Once that dried I punched it out and popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then to finish it off I added a few of the Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls.

Colouring with Circle Sayings

I definitely need to do some more colouring with Circle Sayings! Maybe next time I’ll use the Watercolour Pencils.

Beautifully Happy

This year I decided to focus on featuring one products in all my projects for the week. For this week it’s the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. And for this card I’m pairing it with the Beautifully Happy stamp set, which is also from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. This is such a great stamp set! There are lots of different sentiments that make it versatile. And you can use the images for colouring or for 2-Step stamping.

For this card I started with a few different strips from the Dandy Designs DSP pack. To help the colours pop I’m using a Basic White card base and I decided to pop up the strips with some Stampin’ Dimensionals to be a bit different this time. On top of the DSP strips I added a piece of vellum that I cut using one of the Layering Circles dies. Then on top of that I have another die cut circle of the same size in Basic White.

Instead of doing 2-Step stamping I wanted to colour my images. So I stamped them with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Once it was dry I used the Watercolor Pencils, assortment 2, to colour them in. I used Flirty Flamingo for the flowers and buds. And to give a little more depth to them I pressed more firmly in certain areas to get a darker shade. For the centre of the flower and the bee I used Crushed Curry. And then for the leaves and stems I used Granny Apple Green.

To finish it off I stamped the sentiment with Fresh Freesia ink. And then added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Beautifully Happy

I’m going to miss the Beautifully Happy stamp set. I can’t believe that Sale-a-bration is already more than half over!

Colouring with Happiness Abounds

I crafted this card live on my Facebook page last night. Check out the replay here. I’ve been dying to do some colouring with Happiness Abounds! This stamp set from the new Annual catalogue is a great one. The images are perfect for colouring and the phrases are so versatile.

For this card I used Stampin’ Blends to colour. At some point I’ll use the Watercolour Pencils, but I love the depth of colour you get from these alcohol-based markers. For my colour combination I went with Pool Party and Old Olive. They really compliment each other. To start I stamped a phrase and some leaves using Old Olive ink. Then for the images I’m colouring I stamped them in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Once that was dry I could get to colouring.

When I colour with Stampin’ Blends I tend to start with the light version. Then I add the dark where I want the depth and shadows. And to finish it off I do another layer of the light Stampin’ Blends. Some people start and finish with the dark version which also looks great. It just gives a different look.

Once the coloured images dried I popped them up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. And of course I needed to add some bling… so I added two Rhinestone Basic Jewels on either side of the “congratulations”. Here it is…

Colouring with Happiness Abounds

If you want to add a little something more to this card you can always use the Stitched Rectangles dies. It’s an easy way to cut your cardstock and add another level to your design.

I can’t wait to do some more crafting and colouring with Happiness Abounds! Check out the recent card I crafted using the coordinating Designer Series Paper here.
