Goodbye Mint Macaron

I don’t think that the last time Stampin’ Up! did a Colour Refresh I was this sad. Last time I remember being excited because they were bringing Blackberry Bliss back. But I don’t remember being upset about any colours retiring. This time is definitely different! And next week I’m going to feature some projects with my favourite colours that are retiring. For this week though I’m saying goodbye Mint Macaron. This is definitely been a colour I use a fair bit, so I’m a little sad to see it go.

For this card I paired it with the Love Cats stamp set which is what I’ve been featuring this week. So of course my other colour for my colour combination is black! The idea for this card design was sparked by a card my upline shared. I started with a Mint Macaron card base which I embossed with the Gingham embossing folder. Then I layered on a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I cut out using the Stitched Rectangles dies. I still can’t get over the fact that these are retiring!

On top of that layer is my kitty which I stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I die cut that with a smaller Stitched Rectangles die and wrapped some of the Black & White Gingham ribbon around it. The phrase is from the Friends are like Seashells stamp set. I stamped that with Mint Macaron and then popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Goodbye Mint Macaron

Usually I add a bit of bling to my cards, but this guy is just so cute I didn’t feel like it needed it.

Check out my card from earlier this week using the Love Cats here.

There’s still time before it’s goodbye Mint Macaron forever! Head over to my online store for the most up to date info on what’s still in stock. You have until May 1st!

Diamond Flip Fold Card

Fancy Folds Design Team

The Fancy Folds Design team is back for another year of fun fancy folds! And this month we’re making a Diamond Flip Fold card. It’s a nice simple fun fold card to ease back into things. For measurements and video instructions, check out this video from Linda Bauwin, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from the United States. And the measurements I used for my Basic White squares is 2 7/8″ x 2 7/8″.

This week I’m crafting with the Beautifully Happy stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. So I started my design with that in mind. One of my colours is of course a green (Mint Macaron) and so I pulled out the Country Gingham 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. The smaller design from this sheet really helps the flowers be the focal point. Then to go with the Mint Macaron I chose Fresh Freesia. It’s such a pretty purple and I love pairing greens and purples together!

For the stamping I stamped the outline with full strength Mint Macaron. But for the “filling in” I stamped off for the leaves and buds. Then it was back to full strength for the flowers. I added a sentiment from the In the Moment stamp set to go on the inside. And went with Crumb Cake for my ink colour. As much as I love Fresh Freesia, I wanted a more subtle colour for the sentiment I chose. Then to finish it off I added a few of the Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls to add a little bit of bling. I also added some Wink of Stella to the flowers once they were fully dry.

To keep going on this month’s Diamond Flip Fold card hop, check out Mette Nordling Shaw’s card here.

You can also check out last month’s hop here, where we made a Shaded Gatefold card. That was definitely a fun one!

And don’t forget… Sale-a-bration is almost over! So if you’d like to earn the Beautifully Happy stamp set that I used in today’s card then head over to my online shop before February 28th!

Sale-a-bration #SimpleStamping

After a little break last month, Stampin’ Up!s back with another #SimpleStamping challenge. And this time it’s some Sale-a-bration #SimpleStamping! So just stamps, ink, paper and a Sale-a-bration item. Nothing fancy like ribbon or embellishments this time. We can make any kind of card we want, so I’m taking advantage and making a few thank you cards to give to my customers.

For my Sale-a-bration item I’m using the Beautifully Happy stamp set. I thought about using one of the Designer Series Paper packs from the catalogue, but thought I’d stick with very simple stamping. My main colour is Mint Macaron. I used it for the cardstock and one of my ink colours. The other ink colour is Pool Party.

In the background I stamped the single flower image a few times in Mint Macaron. Then I filled in the spaces with some Pool Party paint splatter. In the centre I stamped “thanks” from the Biggest Wish stamp set and framed it with the larger floral image in Mint Macaron. I also added another single flower with the same colour. Then I “filled in” the flowers with Pool Party and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Sale-a-bration #SimpleStamping

Looking at it now I’m tempted to add some Wink of Stella or a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I hope you enjoyed this Sale-a-bration #SimpleStamping project! Check out another card I made with the Beautifully Happy stamp set here.
