Double Fan Fold Card

Fancy Folds Design Team

This month the Fancy Folds Design Team is making a Double Fan Fold card. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. The video from Brenda Quintana, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from the US, was helpful. Check that out here. My design started once I figured out what images I wanted to put in the centre. I went with Bottles of Happiness. Great flowers and I can use the coordinating punch to make it a shaker card. I love the Vintage Bottle Shaker Domes and Loose Frosted Dots!

Usually I stamp first and then punch. But this time I switched it around. I wanted to make sure that I got the punch up as far as I could. Once I punched then I stamped the bottle outline. Doing it this way also make it much easier to stamp the flowers and foliage in the right place. I stamped the centres and foliage first in Crumb Cake ink. Then I stamped the flowers on top in Pretty Peacock.

The sentiment is from the Season of Chic stamp set. And I die cut it using one of the Meadows dies. I popped that up with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then to decorate the side panels, I used a Pretty Peacock design from the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper pack.

#SimpleStamping with Hello Irresistible

This week instead of a particular stamp set to feature, I chose some pretty patterned paper! And for this card I’m doing some #SimpleStamping with Hello Irresistible. This month’s #SimpleStamping challenge from Stampin’ Up! is to make any kind of card you want using stamps, ink, paper… and some Designer Series Paper.

The online exclusive Hello Irresistible 6×6 DSP is one of my favourites right now. And with this design I get to show off a few of the different designs in this pack. The designs I chose are using Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight. So for my card base I’m using Petal Pink.

I popped up every other strip of the DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then on top of that I added a sentiment from the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I stamped it using Flirty Flamingo ink and then framed it with a piece of Petal Pink cardstock. And since some of the strips are already popped up, I just layered that on top using some Stampin’ SEAL.

#SimpleStamping with Hello Irresistible

It’s hard to stick with #SimpleStamping with Hello Irresistible DSP! I’m so tempted to add some Brushed Brass Butterflies or die cut the sentiment with the Something Fancy dies. I might just have to make another stepped up version.

Check out another card I made using the Hello Irresistible DSP here.

And check out all the packs of patterned paper that are on sale this month, including Hello Irresistible, in my online shop. They’re all on sale for 15% off. Don’t miss out!

Bottled Happiness

With all the excitement about the new Annual catalogue, it’s easy to forget about some of the great products that carried over. So this week I’m crafting with the Bottled Happiness stamp set. This is one of the first stamp sets I got from last year’s catalogue. Partly because I really liked the images and sentiments. But mostly because I loved the coordinating punch and shaker domes. I love a good shaker card! And so that’s what I’m sharing today.

For the shaker part of the card I’m using the Loose Frosted Dots, which is an online exclusive. So I looked to those for my colour combination. There are a few different colours I could use, but I decided to go with a “new” and and old colour; Pretty Peacock and Petal Pink.

I liked the sentiment “overflowing with happiness”, so I used that as inkspiration for my design. I stamped the bottle in the top left hand corner with Pretty Peacock ink. Then I used the splatter image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set to create the effect of the gems pouring out. First I stamped with Petal Pink and then with Pretty Peacock.

I had to be a bit creative in order to punch out my bottle. But I did it with a simple trim and reassembly. Once all the gems were inside the shaker dome, I added a few more o the card front using Mini Glue Dots. And the sentiment was framed with Pretty Peacock cardstock and then popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Bottled Happiness

The new colours are such a fun way to keep the inkspiration going with a stamp set like Bottled Happiness! Check out the card I made earlier this week on my Facebook page here using 2 of the new In Colours.

Window Slider Card

Fancy Folds Design Team

A new month means a new Fancy Folds Design Team blog hop! And this month we’re making a Window Slider card! Even though I needed to take my time with this one, it’s still an easy card to make. Check out this video from Dawn, a US demonstrator. She gives the measurements and you can go step by step along with her if you need to.

This week I’m crafting with all things green since today is St. Patrick’s Day. So that’s where I started with my design. I’m using Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen because these greens go so well together. But also because I want to show off these great colours before they retire and while they’re still available. I used Evening Evergreen as the card base and a piece of the In Colour Designer Series Paper in Soft Succulent for the card mat.

Most of the images and the sentiment on the front of the card come from the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I also threw in a splash of Fresh Freesia for the flowers because I love how greens and purples go together. But the hidden sentiment comes from the Friends are like Seashells stamp set. I really hope this one carries over… it’s definitely a favourite of mine, no matter what time of year it is!

To make it easier to slide out the inner piece of Basic White cardstock I used my retired 1/2″ circle punch. This is one I’m never getting rid of! And then to finish it off I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels around the “window”.

OnStage Card Swap

As you read this I’ll be on my way to Montreal! This weekend is the first OnStage event I’ve been able to attend in person since the pandemic started. I’m really excited to go and knew I wanted to join in the unofficial OnStage card swap! This is one of my many favourite things about OnStage. There’s also the sneak peeks, the free products and meeting demonstrators from all over! To name just a few.

At just about every Stampin’ Up! event there are demonstrators that make cards and other projects just to swap with one another. Card swaps are a great way to get inkspiration and to see how other demonstrators design their cards. I enjoy doing card swaps with my team and so it’s really nice to get cards from people outside of my team! Plus it gives me the chance to meet other demonstrators that I wouldn’t see otherwise.

For my card design I kept it simple. I used some of the Sunprints Designer Series Paper for my card mat on a Gray Granite card base. Then I layered a few things on top. Running across the bottom is a piece of Silver Metallic Edge Cotton ribbon. On top of that is a phrase from the Bottled Happiness stamp set that I framed using the Layering Circles dies and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. And last but not least, I silver heat embossed a dragonfly from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and punched it out with the coordinating punch.

OnStage Card Swap

I hope the other demonstrators like my OnStage card swap! I’ll post some of my favourites here next week so stay tuned. In the meantime you can check out the card I made for my team’s most recent card swap here.

September #SimpleStamping

Today I’m sharing my card for Stampin’ Up!s September #SimpleStamping challenge. This month we’re making a “thinking of you” card using ONLY stamps, ink and paper. I really enjoy these challenges because I sometimes find it a bit more challenging when we don’t have an extra little something to work with like Designer Series Paper or ribbon. You don’t realize how used to using these things you’ve gotten until you’re challenged to NOT use them.

For my design I started with my stamp set. I wanted something that had nice images that I could layer. The Bottled Happiness stamp set I think works well for this kind of card in a lot of different ways. The images and how they are supposed to layer on top of each other… and the phrases are great too.

From here I picked my colours. Since this is a “thinking of you card” I wanted more subtle colours. I used Crumb Cake for my card base partly because of this and partly because I can pair almost any other colour with it. The other colours I picked are Soft Succulent and Fresh Freesia; both colours from the 2021-2023 In Colour collection. So pretty and not too much either.

The phrase also came from the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I stamped that with Soft Succulent ink and then framed it with some Crumb Cake cardstock. Then to finish it off I popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

September #SimpleStamping

If we would have been able to add a little something to the September #SimpleStamping challenge I would have voted for some Designer Series Paper. Or maybe even a punch and then I could have used the coordinating Vintage Bottle Punch. Either way I’m happy with how this card turned out. Check out another recent card I made for another #SimpleStamping challenge here.

Colourful Butterflies

I’m always on the look out for ideas for projects. Sometimes to craft something different and sometimes because I just need ideas. And one stamp set that I’ve needed some ideas for is the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set. I really like the images in this stamp set, but I seem to get stuck. So this card design came from a few different cards I’ve seen lately. And I thought it’d be fun to add some colourful butterflies using some of the new In Colours.

To really help the colours pop I used a Basic White card base. But I didn’t want just a plain card base so I embossed the front of it using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing folder. Then to frame the images and phrase and help the colours stand out even more I used some Starry Sky cardstock. For the butterflies I first stamped the image from the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set in Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party on a piece of Basic White cardstock.

To create the butterflies to layer on top I used my Blending Brushes with each of the ink colours on a few pieces of Basic White cardstock. Once they were dry I used one of the Brilliant Wings dies to cut out the butterflies. Then I used some Mini Glue Dots to adhere them to the stamped cardstock.

I popped up the framed cardstock with the butterflies using some Stampin’ Dimensionals. And the phrase I pulled from the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I cut it out with one of the smallest Stitched Rectangles dies and then used a bit of Stampin’ SEAL and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to have it on the same level as the butterflies.

Colourful Butterflies

I really love these colourful butterflies! This was such a simple card to make and I love how it turned out.

Crafting with the New Catalogue

This past weekend I celebrated the new Annual Catalogue that launched last Tuesday. I had an online and in-person party and we had a lot of fun crafting with the new catalogue! It’s so much fun getting together with people and crafting. I’ve really missed it.

For my online party I did some live crafting on my Facebook page. Check that out here. At my in-person party we made two cards. The first card uses the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I paired Parakeet Party, one of the new In Colours, with Pool Party for my colour combination. Then to add a little something more to the card I used some of the Supple Shimmer and Iridescent Specialty Papers. I also added some of the Denim Ribbon and a few Polished Dots. (You can find the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper and the Denim Ribbon in the January-June Mini catalogue.)

Crafting with the new Catalogue

The second card uses the He’s All That bundle. I love this set! The stamp set is a nice versatile masculine set and the dies can be used with a variety of images and phrases, not just the ones from the stamp set. For this card I paired Starry Sky, another new In Colour, and Crumb Cake. And instead of Basic White cardstock I used Very Vanilla. It’s a little more subtle.

To add a distressed look to the card I tore the edges of the cardstock and the vellum. Just start with a little snip from your Paper Snips, or scissors, and tear away. The vellum came from the Vellum Layering Designs and I thought the map design works great for this card. Then to finish it off I added a few of the Brushed Metallic Dots.

Crafting with the new Catalogue

I’m having so much fun crafting with the new catalogue! And I can’t wait to share even more projects with you. In the meantime you can check it all out in my online shop. And if you live in Canada and want a copy of your very own just send me an email; inkspirationwithteresa@gmail.com. I’d be happy to send you one!
