Fun Fold Card

I saw a post from Jo Blackman a couple of weeks ago showing this cute fun fold card and I knew that I wanted to give it a try. My first thought was to use the Penguin Place stamp set for my design. For the other design that I used for my YouTube channel, I picked the Sale-a-bration stamp set Hippest Hippos. Check out my video here.

From here I needed to pick the Designer Series Paper I was using so I could get my colour combination. For the Penguin Place card design I paired it with the Sale-a-bration Silver & Gold Designer Series Paper, so I used a Pool Party card base. And for the Hippest Hippos card I used one of the designs from the Hues of Happiness pack of Designer Series Paper with a Petal Pink card base. This piece of patterned paper also helped me pick the hippo for my card!

On the inside of the card I stamped the full versions of my cute critters. Adding some of the cute accessories for my penguin and the Watercolour Pencils to colour my hippo. My critters and phrases were all die cut using the Layering Circles dies, even the scalloped cardstock. Then I popped up the framed phrases using Stampin’ Dimensionals. But my plain critters I kept on the same level as the DSP.

Fun Fold Card

I kept the outside of the cards simple. If you want you can add some Rhinestone Basic Jewels or Brushed Brass Butterflies. That would add a little something more to this fun fold card.

Watercolouring with Happiness Abounds

I’m really enjoying all this watercolouring for World Watercolouring month! It’s something I love to do, I just don’t always think of it when I’m designing my cards. Hopefully that’ll change after this month. In the meantime I’m enjoying myself and watercolouring with Happiness Abounds is so much fun. The images in this stamp set make it so easy! Plus the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper makes for a nice background. And that’s exactly where I started for this card.

To pull my design together I started with choosing the piece of DSP. All these designs are so colourful, but I wanted to choose a design that wasn’t too busy. I wanted the watercolouring to be the main focus. The piece I chose was nice and simple, plus I love purples and blues. Then to really help the colours pop I used a Basic Black card base.

Layered on top of my patterned paper I stamped some flowers on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Next I used 2 different Stitched Rectangles dies to add a little something more to the stamped cardstock.

For the other flowers I stamped them using the same ink but on some of the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper. Just to be sure I gave them lots of time to dry. Then I used my Water Painters to add Pool Party and Rich Razzleberry ink to them. To get the darker colours I added the ink straight onto the stamped watercolour paper. And for the lighter shades I brushed off a little bit of ink onto the side of the ink pad lid before colouring. Once these dried I cut them out using the Blossoming Happiness dies and popped them up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then to finish it off I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Gotta add some bling!

Hippest Hippos

Summer is officially here! I’m looking forward to a slower pace and more time for crafting. And I’m definitely looking forward to round 2 of Sale-a-bration. I especially love the Hippest Hippos stamp set and coordinating dies that you can earn for FREE starting next Friday with qualifying orders. So to celebrate the first day of Summer I thought I’d pair these cute hippos with the Friends are like Seashells stamp set.

With that in mind I went with a beach themed colour combination. Pool Party and Crumb Cake I feel work great for this. I used Crumb Cake for my card base. And then I added Pool Party to mat the images and phrase. Before I stamped my images I used my Blending Brushes on the main piece of Basic White cardstock. I used Crumb Cake along the bottom to create a kind of beach and then Pool Party along the top for a water/sky look. On top of the blended inks I stamped some specs of sand and a few seashells.

Then for the hippos I stamped them with Smoky Slate on separate pieces of Basic White cardstock. Once they were dry I used some of my Watercolour Pencils to colour them in. Then I cut them out with the coordinating dies and popped them up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The phrase comes from the Friends are like Seashells stamp set. And I cut it out with one of the Stitched Rectangles dies. Then I popped it up with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a few of the Faux Sea Glass Shapes.

Hippest Hippos

This was such a fun card to make! I can’t wait to create some more with the Hippest Hippos. Stay tuned for more cards featuring these guys.

Colouring with Happiness Abounds

I crafted this card live on my Facebook page last night. Check out the replay here. I’ve been dying to do some colouring with Happiness Abounds! This stamp set from the new Annual catalogue is a great one. The images are perfect for colouring and the phrases are so versatile.

For this card I used Stampin’ Blends to colour. At some point I’ll use the Watercolour Pencils, but I love the depth of colour you get from these alcohol-based markers. For my colour combination I went with Pool Party and Old Olive. They really compliment each other. To start I stamped a phrase and some leaves using Old Olive ink. Then for the images I’m colouring I stamped them in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Once that was dry I could get to colouring.

When I colour with Stampin’ Blends I tend to start with the light version. Then I add the dark where I want the depth and shadows. And to finish it off I do another layer of the light Stampin’ Blends. Some people start and finish with the dark version which also looks great. It just gives a different look.

Once the coloured images dried I popped them up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. And of course I needed to add some bling… so I added two Rhinestone Basic Jewels on either side of the “congratulations”. Here it is…

Colouring with Happiness Abounds

If you want to add a little something more to this card you can always use the Stitched Rectangles dies. It’s an easy way to cut your cardstock and add another level to your design.

I can’t wait to do some more crafting and colouring with Happiness Abounds! Check out the recent card I crafted using the coordinating Designer Series Paper here.

Crafting with the New Catalogue

This past weekend I celebrated the new Annual Catalogue that launched last Tuesday. I had an online and in-person party and we had a lot of fun crafting with the new catalogue! It’s so much fun getting together with people and crafting. I’ve really missed it.

For my online party I did some live crafting on my Facebook page. Check that out here. At my in-person party we made two cards. The first card uses the Bottled Happiness stamp set. I paired Parakeet Party, one of the new In Colours, with Pool Party for my colour combination. Then to add a little something more to the card I used some of the Supple Shimmer and Iridescent Specialty Papers. I also added some of the Denim Ribbon and a few Polished Dots. (You can find the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper and the Denim Ribbon in the January-June Mini catalogue.)

Crafting with the new Catalogue

The second card uses the He’s All That bundle. I love this set! The stamp set is a nice versatile masculine set and the dies can be used with a variety of images and phrases, not just the ones from the stamp set. For this card I paired Starry Sky, another new In Colour, and Crumb Cake. And instead of Basic White cardstock I used Very Vanilla. It’s a little more subtle.

To add a distressed look to the card I tore the edges of the cardstock and the vellum. Just start with a little snip from your Paper Snips, or scissors, and tear away. The vellum came from the Vellum Layering Designs and I thought the map design works great for this card. Then to finish it off I added a few of the Brushed Metallic Dots.

Crafting with the new Catalogue

I’m having so much fun crafting with the new catalogue! And I can’t wait to share even more projects with you. In the meantime you can check it all out in my online shop. And if you live in Canada and want a copy of your very own just send me an email; inkspirationwithteresa@gmail.com. I’d be happy to send you one!

Amazing Silhouettes

Back in November I attended OnStage @ Home. Just like everyone else Stampin’ Up! switched their annual conference online. And while I do miss the in-person events, I still enjoy the online version. They do a great job! Anyway…. as part of attending OnStage I received the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set which is in the new January-June Mini catalogue. I have to admit that I wasn’t as excited as with this Prize Patrol, but did see some potential.

This card is my first design using this stamp set. And to ease my way into it I paired it with a few other stamp sets. I started my design thinking I would make a monochromatic card. And one of the Pool Party designs from the Sale-a-bration Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper was perfect! This one is a nice simple design and won’t overpower the other elements of the card. So Pool Party is my main colour for this card.

The central image is the butterfly from the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set. Behind that are the dotted circle images from the Sweet Conversations stamp set. Both of these I stamped with Pool Party, of course. But for the dotted circles I stamped them full strength and then once more for a faded image too. Then the phrase, which I stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, came from the new In the Moment stamp set. This set also came from OnStage… I bought the swag box this time around and that was one of the goodies inside!

To highlight the phrase and butterfly I cut them out using the Stitched Rectangles and Stitched So Sweetly dies. And then I popped them up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish it off I added a couple of the Brass Brushed Butterflies. I just love these!! As soon as I saw them at OnStage I knew I had to have them. And when they ended up being one of the other Prize Patrols I was super excited. Here’s the card…

Amazing Silhouettes

The Amazing Silhouettes stamp set is definitely growing on me. I already have a couple other ideas in my head for other projects.

Sunshine and Rainbows

It’s that time of year again… Sale-a-bration time! The new catalogues just launched on Tuesday and I’m so excited for them. So today I’m sharing a project using 2 of the new Sale-a-bration products. The first is the Sunshine and Rainbows Designer Series Paper. And the other is the Catching Butterflies stamp set. Both are super cute and are some of my favourites from the Sale-a-bration catalogue!

To start my design I knew I wanted to use the Catching Butterflies stamp set. So next I needed my colour combination and for that I pulled from the DSP pack. There are so many fun and colourful designs is this pack of DSP! I decided to used the design with the Pool Party clouds and was pleasantly surprised when I flipped it over and could use the other design as well. So Petal Pink ended up being my other colour.

I stamped the girl with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and a couple of butterflies in Petal Pink. So to bring in the Pool Party from the DSP, I used that to stamp my phrase. The phrase is also from the Catching Butterflies stamp set.

To make sure I could still see lots of the DSP I cut out the image and phrase using the Layering Circles and Stitched So Sweetly dies. Then I popped them up with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish it off I added a few of the Brushed Brass Butterflies. I’m a big butterfly person, so as soon as I saw these in the new January-June Mini catalogue I knew I had to have them!

Here’s the finished card…
